The massive barrel with a ring behind the turned and belled muzzle, and numbered '12' at the breech, plain iron tang, rounded lock stamped 'Cooper London', ring-neck cock (steel-spring missing), lightly figured full stock (split beneath the lock, large repair above the lock), stamped 'Chas. H. Cooper, Maker, Birmingham' one side of the butt, the fore-end (split) drilled for a peg mount (missing), brass mounts comprising rounded side-plate, butt-plate, trigger-guard and ramrod-pipe, and later brass-tipped ramrod, Birmingham proof marks
