1995 BMW M5 Touring
Chassis no. BLO1879
'For the first time ever, BMW produced an M-badged estate car with the M5 Touring. Improbable amounts of luggage could now be transported at an unfeasibly rapid pace, and go-faster families with enthusiastic dog-owning drivers suddenly had a very satisfying motoring choice.' – Chris Rees, 'BMW M-Series'.
Commencing in the early 1980s with the limited edition 'homologation special' M3, BMW Motorsport GmbH went on to create its own distinctive 'M-Power' brand of performance-enhanced luxury saloons. The M5 debuted at the Amsterdam Automobile Salon in 1985 and was based on the medium-sized 5-Series saloon. Outwardly similar to the M535i, the M5 used the same 3,453cc 24-valve, six-cylinder engine that had been developed for the mid-engined M1 coupé but with 286bhp on tap had some 70 horsepower more than the M535i. The combination of this stupendous engine in a relatively lightweight bodyshell made for outstanding performance, the M5's six-second 0-60mph time and limited-to-155mph (250km/h) top speed making it the quickest four-door production car of its day. Necessary chassis improvements included lowered and stiffened suspension, wider wheels, ABS-equipped ventilated disc brakes and a limited-slip differential as standard. The M5 is notable as the first M-Power model to be offered as estate car in the form of the 'Touring' version, which proved an immensely successful exploitation of its niche market, taking around 50% of M5 sales in Germany, Sadly, it was not sold in the UK.
Dating from the final year of production and now considered a modern classic, this 'First Generation' M5 Touring has covered fewer than 59,000 kilometres (approximately 36,600 miles) from new and must be one of the best examples currently available. A left-hand drive, manual transmission model finished in black with matching leather interior, the car is described by the vendor as in generally very good condition and offered without reserve. Accompanying documentation consists of the service book, sundry invoices, French Carte Grise and Contrôle Technique.

No reserve.
