The 1955 model Chevrolets began the companys modern classic period, now recognized as the Tri-Five 55-56-57 series, possibly the most desirable Chevys ever.
The cars launched the immortal small-block V8 in 265 cubic-inch displacement and switched to 12-volt systems, for improved cold-weather starting.
The 1955 models features brand new sheet metal throughout and were 2.5 inches lower than the 54s, on a brand-new twist-resistant frame. There was a new ball-joint front suspension and the rear spring were 9-inches longer that provided a better ride.

The list of options is extensive, starting with power brakes and power steering, with the correct generator-mounted pump and the correct supplemental oil filter. Externally, the convertible carries front and rear bumper guards, rocker moldings, door edge moldings, front fender stone guards, dual mirrors, fenders skirts, fender skirt stone guards, a continental kit, wire wheel covers, door handle guards, gas tank door guard, backup lights and windshield washers and electric wipers.
Inside this convertible is fitted with a Wonderbar radio, power windows, power seats, a traffic finder prism, tissue dispenser, glovebox light, de luxe heater, accelerator cover and cigarette lighter.
