BMW was more prolific, but the title of Germany's most advanced pre-WWII motorcycle might have to go to Zündapp with its impressive KS750, powered by an opposed four-cylinder engine wrapped in a pressed-steel perimeter-style frame and resplendent in tasteful Art Deco styling. A gearing-up Wehrmacht saw value in the design and drafted the Zündapp, resulting in the K800 army bike, most often hooked up to a matching sidecar as seen here.

This late-1938 example is one of the last K800s made, and obviously the mortality rate of these war workhorses was very high, so few exist today. Showing 54,000 kilometers and in relatively unmolested original shape, it was purchased partially restored from the estate of a European collector of military motorcycles. Once in the U.S. there followed was an extensive four-year, no-expense-spared restoration, including full engine and drivetrain overhaul, completed in 2010.

The outfit comes equipped with a captured Russian jerry can and vintage drum-feed machine gun. For added reliability the current owner has discreetly added a second battery and modern electrical cut-off switch in the sidecar's storage trunk, along with a quick-disconnect coupling should the new owner wish to remove the sidecar for solo operation. Here is a unique opportunity to own one of the rarest of German motorcycles, and also one the rarest of war-era military sidecar combinations.
