Footnotes

  • An engineering tour de force, the all-new Rover 2000 (Type P6) debuted in 1963, garnering much acclaim and the 'Car of the Year' award. 'One has the impression that the car was planned by engineers who are enthusiastic drivers and by stylists who put function before decoration, and the result is something of an object lesson to other manufacturers,' enthused Motor magazine. Introduced in 1966, the twin-carburettor 2000TC boasted a maximum power output of 110bhp (up from 89) and then in 1973 came the ultimate four-cylinder P6 - the 2200. As before, single-carburettor 'SC' and twin-carburettor 'TC' versions were offered, producing 98 and 115bhp respectively, both enjoying the benefit of the 3500 model's larger, 68-litre fuel tank. The TC's top speed of around 109mph remained unaltered, the principle advantage of the bigger engine being improved flexibility and acceleration.
This manual-transmission Rover 2200TC was acquired for the Collection in May 1984 and last ran approximately 10 years ago. Finished in white with brown/orange cloth interior, the car currently displays a total of 4,895 miles on the odometer and is presented in generally good condition. Accompanying documentation consists of sundry bills, a quantity of expired MoTs (most recent January 1987) and old-style Swansea V5. Sold strictly as viewed.
