Martin IV, in natural finish, flame maple body with round cutaway, laminate spruce top with f-holes, three-piece flame maple neck, twenty-one fret bound ebony fingerboard, black Micarta headstock facing with CF Martin & Co inlaid in mother-of-pearl, rosewood truss rod cover, Gotoh gold-plated tuners with ebony buttons, Kent Armstrong floating pickup in ebony casing, ebony bridge and tailpiece and one rotary control mounted on black pickguard; and a tweed hardshell contour case with black plush lining, with envelope marked black screws for truss rod cover, and handwritten label with various inscriptions including Blonde - Archtop, S./C.   • This guitar was a gift to Eric Clapton from Martin in March 2005.

    Dale Unger, a guitar maker and native of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, apprentice to the archtop guitar maker, Bob Benedetto, started the American Archtop company and worked closely with the Martin Guitar Company over the years. This guitar, which represents a fusion of archtop guitar making and Martin's flat-top tradition, was built by Dale Unger for Martin under the model name CF-1 in circa 2005.
