The rectangular top with projecting corners and inset with a tolled leather writing panel, and fitted to either side with three drawers, raised on square tapered legs ending in spade feet, the whole applied with lion mask, swags and stylized guilloche mounts, one drawer inset with label inscribed E. POTEAU Ameublement 59, Rue de Turenne PARIS.

  • Edmond Poteau operated from 9 rue Mignon between 1856 and 1874, moving to the 9, rue Turenne address where he conducted business until the late 1890s. Known for his cabinetry that reflected Transitional and Louis XVI aesthetics, his works reflect an emphasis on fine marquetry and parquetry inlays.
