Footnotes

  • Dorrie Nossiter (1893-1977) studied at the Municipal School of Art in Birmingham. Her work, heavily inspired by nature, is often seen as typical of the English Arts and Crafts tradition. She was a contemporary of Sybil Dunlop and their work, which is very similar stylistically, is often confused. However Nossiter's work can be distinguished by its more naturalistic and asymmetrical approach and by its use of a subtle, more muted colour palette.

Accompanied by a certificate, please contact the Jewellery Department for further information.

Saleroom notices

  • Please note the necklace is accompanied by a certificate stating that the green jade beads have been acid bleached and polymer impregnated while no evidence of treatment has been observed on the lavender jade beads. Certificate 04939, dated 29 November 2011.
