The blade of hira-zukuri form, sugu-ba of nioi with sunagashi,, tight itame-hada, the o-suriage nakago with one mekugi-ana, unsigned; koshirae; the diagonally ribbed lacquer saya of roiro and e-nashiji, lacquered with chidori in gold takamakie; the fittings, consisting of kozuka, kogai, fuchi-gashira and kojiri of silver, carved in takabori and inlaid in gold takazogan with chidori over breaking waves, the menuki of silver and shakudo, each in the form of two flying geese, the kozuka and kogai signed and dated Takeyama Mahiko, Meiji san, kano-e uma kore wo tsukuru (the year of the Horse, in the 3rd year of Meiji (1870); the kashira signed Ma with kao; the kojiri signed and dated Takeyama Mahiko Meiji 2 (1869).
