ALBUM AMICORUM
Album amicorum, evidently kept by a German student early in the seventeenth century, with entries made at Cassel in 1614 and Hamburg in 1625, including two exceptionally attractive watercolour miniatures, one showing a noble scholar on his horse, preceded by a sword bearer, the other showing a lady on her horse, with the motto "Contentemento passa richiezza" signed "Giorgo Booggins", Hamburg, 20 August 1625; with Callotesque engravings and woodcuts later pasted in, contents coming loose, leaves removed, etc., contemporary blindstamped calf, holes for ties, covers detached, oblong 8vo, c.1614-1625
