Footnotes

  • Major Felix Walter Warre OBE MC. (1879-1953) was born at Eton college where his father was Headmaster. Following his father to Balliol College, Oxford, he rowed in the successful 1898,1899 & 1901 Boat Race crews and won the Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta in 1901 with JH Hale. He joined the Royal Garrison Artillery at the start of WW1 and rose to the rank of Major, latterly becoming an auctioneer at Sothebys.

It is believed that E.L. Warre was one of Felix Warre's four brothers, and that R.P.Warre was his son.
