Footnotes

  • Provenance:
    Private collection, U.A.E.

Ayman Baalbaki's works are often politically charged and this piece is no exception. Burn it I makes reference to the burning of tyres during political demonstrations, with an emblematic quality that is emphasized by the neon words written across the composition. Seab Eigner, Art of the Middle East, London, p.153.

A similar work from the same series, titled Burn it, is illustrated in Saeb Eigner, Art of the Middle East, London, p.152.
