Sold for US$ 12,870 inc. premium
1970 BSA A65 Scrambler
Engine no. HD00272A65F
BSA had applied the 'Spitfire' name to its US-inspired 650cc street scramblers in pre-unit days, and when the concept was revived for the unit-construction range, the name 'Spitfire Hornet' was chosen for the new model, the 500cc version being called 'Wasp'. The 'Spitfire' part of the designation was soon dropped, being applied exclusively to the new sports roadster, and the 650 street scrambler was re-christened 'Firebird' in 1967, by which time it had become a export-only model.

This 1970 Firebird is from the last year before the launch of the oil-in-frame range in November that year. Recently treated to a ground-up restoration by marque specialist Dutchman, Jim Hiddleston, the motorcyles is reported to be in "as new" condition, showing a mere 6 miles from completion.
