1966 DKW Munga Gelandawagen NATO forces jeep
Widely used in peace keeping missions throughout Germany, Switzerland, Greece and other European countres, these interesting vehicles were also imported in the 1960's to the US market. DKW, an old respected German firm, was once the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. DKW was one of the four companies united into the Auto Union, with Horsch, Wanderer, and Audi.

Built upon a chassis of only 102 inches, this powerful three cylinder, two stoke unit was capable of high revs and remarkable on and off-road performance. The manufacturer claimed it could climb a 30% grade, offered FWD/4x4 "on the fly", and was able to attain highway speeds of 70 MPH. No oil changes, and only seven moving parts in the engine offered very easy maintenance. The design was later redefined by Suzuki in the late 70's.

Parts are available through the various owners clubs worldwide. A must-have for a military collector, Porsche/Audi enthusiasts or someone with a keen interest in the technology.
