While the F.B. Mondial company gained an immediate reputation among motorcycle aficionados for their advanced DOHC lightweight racers, they still needed to sell motorcycles to the public. The quality of their street machinery was always high, and therefore expensive, and a new two-stroke single-cylinder engine was developed as a more affordable alternative to their overhead-valve offerings. Thus, in 1952 the 160cc Turismo Lusso appeared, clad in the same stylish bodywork and with similar performance to Mondial's more expensive models. In 1953, a sport version was inevitably created, the Sport Lusso, with higher performance and racier bodywork. While excellent machines, these small two-strokes were never manufactured in great numbers, and are now quite rare.

This 1952 Turismo Lusso was the subject of a recent restoration by Underground Colors completed in 2009. Among the work completed, the gas tank was disassembled, hammered out, and repainted in beautiful blue and silver. A unique and rare machine, it is eligible for many 'revival' events.
