Album leaves, ink, colors, and gold on paper, mounted in an accordion-fold album; depicting scenes from The Tale of Genji and comprising twelve selections of text in elegant sosho calligraphy on paper decorated in gold, with twelve paintings in the traditional Tosa manner and with gold moriage clouds, including scenes from the following chapters: Aoi (Heartvine, Ch. 9), Sakaki (Sacred Tree, Ch. 10), Suma (Ch. 12), Miotsukushi (Channel Buoys, Ch. 14), Sekiya (The Gatehouse, Ch. 16), Usugumo (A Rack of Cloud, Ch. 19), Otome (The Maiden, Ch. 21), Tamakazura (The Jewelled Chaplet, Ch. 22), Tokonatsu (Wild Carnations, Ch. 26), Miyuki (The Royal Outing, Ch. 29), Wakana I (New Herbs I, Ch. 34), and Wakana II (New Herbs II, Ch. 35).
