1804 10C 14 Stars Fine 12 ANACS
JR-2, R.5. Original charcoal-gray fields stand out from light silver-gray devices and highpoints. A very desirable rare early dime, a date that is unknown in true Mint State and usually only available in low grades. This piece shows good detail, just a bit soft between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock on the reverse rim due to axial misalignment; there is light weakness on the opposite place on the obverse rim as well. The surface quality of this piece is vastly superior to many we have seensevere granularity and/or post-striking repairs are common for this issue, but are not present here. The classic key date of the early dime series, rarer even than the highly demanded dates in the 1790s, we expect this piece will see a lot of competition from dedicated collectors. (PCGS 4475)
