Sugata (configuration): broad honzukuri, iori mune, torii zori with an extended kissaki
Kitae (forging pattern): fine itame of jinie with chike
Hamon (tempering pattern): sanbon sugi in nie with ashi, utsuri and tobiyaki
Boshi (tip): midari komi with a Jizo finish
Nakago (tang): suriage with two holes and kiri file marks with gold-inlaid attestation Kanemoto
Habaki (collar): one-piece silver
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 27 5/8in (70.2cm)
Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 3/8in (3.3cm)
Sakihaba (width before tip): 1in (3cm)

The 19th-century koshirae comprising a black-lacquer ishime saya decorated with dragonflies in iroe takamakie and hiramakie with iridescent shell embellishments mounted with an iron kojiri with a gilt dragonfly in relief; the tsuka fitted with iron tsuchimeji fuchi-gashira with dragonflies in high-relief gilt metal and gold and shakudo menuki carved as pheasants; elongated oval iron plate tsuba with a raised rim and decorated on the web with Amida yasuri and a large dragonfly in gold overlays
