A 19th century American fraternal sword for the Knights of Pythias
Model after the Model 1872 cavalry saber, the 27 inch blade etched with florals, society symbols and owner's name G.T. Cook. Gilt brass three bar hilt with lion head pommel, the guard molded with the lily and UR of the Knights of Pythias. Shagreen and wire-wrapped grip. Iron scabbard, the brass throat molded with the figure of a knight.
Condition: Blade light frosting. Hilt retains much gilt finish, the outer bar bent. Scabbard lacking drag and lower suspension mount.
