Sold for £ 12,880 (US$ 15,754) inc. premium
1951 Vincent 499cc Comet
Registration no. KRU 756 (see text)
Frame no. RC/1/7239
Engine no. F5AB/2A/5339
Effectively a Rapide v-twin minus its rear cylinder, the Series-C Vincent Comet built from 1949 to 1954 offered the same degree of refinement as its bigger brother, albeit with reduced performance. Even so, the Comet combined a 90mph potential with excellent fuel economy, and was the ideal touring mount for the discerning rider who placed civility of manners and quality of construction above outright performance.

The vendor advises us that this Comet's crankcase halves (numbered '61M') are not original to the machine, which left the factory with '94P'. Previously registered 'KRU 756' in the UK, the Vincent has been registered in Guernsey since July 1994 and comes with Guernsey registration document, old-style buff logbook and a quantity of old tax discs. Described as in generally good condition, the machine benefits from a new clutch (fitted five years ago), reconditioned magneto and new advance/retard unit, carburettor float bowl and left-hand side footrest hanger.
