Distinguished Service Order, G.V.R. in silver-gilt and enamel; 1914 star with Mons bar (Capt.H.St M.Carter. R.A.M.C.); British War and Victory Medal with MID Oakleaf (Lt.Col H.StM.Carter.). Mounted as worn with corresponding miniatures. Extremely fine. (8)

    Lieutenant Colonel Herbert St.Maur Carter was born on the 7th May 1878. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and entered the R.A.M.C. on 30th July 1904; Captain 30.1.1908; Major 1.7.1915; Temporary Lieutenant Colonel 1.7.1915 to 2.1.1916. Served with the British Red Cross Commissioner with Serbian Forces. In Command of No.5 Field Ambulance 1st July 1915 to 2nd Jan 1916. France and Belgium 19th August 1914 to 9th November 1917; Italy 10th Nov 1917 to 12 June 1917.
