Surmounted by a handle of twin figures over a double basket top, the upper section centred by a portrait medallion flanked by cherubs, the lower section centred by a roundel depicting St George slaying the dragon flanked by warriors and martial trophies within elaborate scrolls, the four corners set with facetted urn finials over a moulded cornice, further mounted with repousse sound frets to the sides, similar to the quadrants of the back door and strips to the front door, on a plinth base, the 6.75 inch brass dial with shallow arch with curved signature within an engraved stylised wheatear border over a strike/not strike lever and winged cherubs head spandrels, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half quarter marks and arrow head half hour marks, the finely matted centre with mock pendulum aperture and ringed winding squares, the chamfered date aperture set below a slot for manual adjustment of the date on shorter months, the twin gut fusee movement secured by two blued steel straps, with verge escapement striking the hours on a bell and repeating the quarters on a nest of five bells, the backplate signed in an oval reserve amongst symmetrical foliate scrolls, with external ratchets secured by shaped brass springs 52cms (20.5ins) high.
