  • The East Indian was built in 1884 by Robert Duncan & Co Ltd of port Glasgow, Scotland for Lang & Fulton, Greenock. The Robert Duncan shipbuilding company started building ships in 1830 and by 1930, they had constructed nearly 400 vessels, the best know being the S S Britannia.
