An exceptional late 18th century lacquered rosewood rokuji dokei
The case with columnar corners partially lacquered with exquisitely detailed bird and landscape decoration including a hawk and songbirds, with glazed circular aperture to the rear of the case, the opening front with a beautifully engraved brass fret with central lotus flower above the 3.5 inch silvered six hour (rokuji) dial with finely engraved dial centre and pierced and sculpted revolving hour hand to the fine movement with foliate engraved backplate united by four substantial baluster pillars, the movement with split barrel to the chain fusee going train with single foliot and verge escapement, the strike side driven by a geared barrel with external countwheel striking on a bell mounted on a turned pillar and engraved top plate 19cm (7.5in) high.

27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
