Surmounted by a gilt brass handle on a shallow caddy with front and rear glazed shutters, moulded plinth on turned feet and a shaped base, the unusually shaped gilt frontplate with profuse floral engraving, double calendar apertures, three inch revolving warikoma dial with open centre, adjustable hour and half-hour plaques, fixed pierced blued steel hand with adjustable alarm hand, the chain fusee going train with verge escapement and pierced brass pendulum, fixed going barrel to the strike train with external countwheel and decorative gathering pallet and locking detent, mounted on a gilt brass plate with four decorative corner finials and underslung alarm bell 25cm (10in) high.

  • This clock was commissioned to celebrate a special anniversary of the Daichi bank. In honour of the bank, the clock plates were shaped in the form of a money bag.
