Alfred Angas Scott built his first motorcycle in 1908 and as early as 1914 the ‘yowling’ of his first siamesed, water-cooled, two-stroke was to be heard on test in the Yorkshire Dales. From the outset the Scott proved to be a nimble machine with an outstanding turn of speed and excellent road holding characteristics aided by its low centre of gravity. Scotts were to excel in contemporary trials in the hands of the likes of Jeffries, Moore and Wood and competed actively in the Senior TT in the hands of such notables as the Langton brothers, (Eric and Oliver), Mainwaring and Langman.

This machine was first registered with Hertfordshire County Council on 27th November 1928 and an old buff logbook records ownership since 1957. It returned to the County in which it was built in 1969 and most notable among a succession of Yorkshire VMCC ‘worthies’ who have owned the bike since then was the late Oliver Langton, one of the famous Langton brothers, (with brother Eric), of pre-war speedway fame and also a noted figure on ‘The Island’. Oliver had a passion for Scott and Rex motorcycles, his collection sharing a garage with the oldest Rolls-Royce in the world which he owned for 28 years. In 1957 this machine had an engine change for whatever reason, however the original engine must have stayed with the bike and remarkably is that presently fitted. The machine is well presented, equipped with AMAL carburettor, BTH magneto and a Mansfield saddle, comes with the aforementioned buff logbook and is Swansea registered.
