Footnotes

  • It is rare that the experts are left wondering at the identity of a veteran car but, despite many and varied opinions, this interesting vehicle remains unidentified. The vehicle is offered as a two-seater voiturette, powered by a forward-mounted, single-cylinder, water-cooled engine, bearing the number 160. The engine design is similar in many respects to contemporary offerings from major French manufacturers. A belt-drive arrangement is in place and the car is complete with a gearbox and rear-axle with differential, believed to be Perfecta Darracq. Inspection of the drive train suggests that the belt-drive currently in place would not be a workable item. The two-seater body is of more modern construction but soundly executed in period style and the coal-scuttle bonnet appears to be a period item. The coachwork is complete with a bulkhead on which is mounted a brass fuel tank. The steering column, wheel and controls appear to date from the early 20th Century and the car is complete with pedals and cross shaft. At the time of cataloguing no further information is forthcoming relating to this vehicle and its identification, however should further information come to light prior to the sale this will be posted as a saleroom notice.
