Footnotes

  • As Robert Jacobsen notes in Classical Chinese Furniture in the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Minneapolis, 1991, page 136, these "summer-winter" tables were quite common in the Ming Period, but very few survived. This lot has modern folding supports, but is in the trandition of this type, illustrated by examples in Ibid entry no. 46., and in Ellsworth, op.cit., pp. 58-59, no. 15.
