A Colt Model 1851 Navy Richards-Mason Original Metallic Cartridge revolver
Serial no. 3447 I, .38 Centerfire. 7 1/2 inch New York marked barrel. Nickel-plated finish. Lanyard ring. Iron triggerguard marked 38 cal. Fitted with later elephant ivory grips, the right side relief-carved with spread eagle clutching arrows and branch, the left side with wreath and monogram GN. Buttstrap with lanyard ring.
Condition: Fine. Barrel retains 85% plus nickel showing some areas of pitting. Ejector housing with traces of nickel and areas of light pitting. Cylinder with 60% nickel and generally strong scene with perhaps 25% of scene obscured by pitting. Triggerguard showing traces of nickel and some minor pitting. Gripstrap with 97-8% nickel. Loading gate numbered 1028. Excellent after market grips.
