A scarce cased Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver with shoulder stock
Serial no. 94447 for 1860, .36 caliber. 7 1/2 inch barrel marked Address Col. Colt London. No London proofs. 'Four screw' frame cut for 3rd Type shoulder stock. Silver-plated triggerguard/gripstrap. Varnished walnut grips. Complete with green baize-lined English oak case. Lid with circular brass escutcheon. Interior of lid with loading instruction label. Partitioned interior with one lidded compartment. Varnished walnut shoulder stock serial numbered to gun, the yoke and buttplate silver-plated. Accessories include key for case, Dixon & Sons powder flask, L-shaped combination tool, Colt's Patent two-cavity iron bullet mold, cleaning rod, steel oiler and opened tin of 500 percussion caps with green Eley Brothers label.
Condition: Gun very good. Barrel, cylinder and frame with mottled grey metal showing scattered light pitting. Barrel markings showing light wear. Hammer screw replaced. Cylinder scene with perhaps 50-60% readable. Triggerguard/gripstrap retain 90% plus silver plating with some pinpoint bubbling. Grips showing light marks, wear to varnish, some bruising from shoulder stock and some areas of old revarnish. Case fine. Exterior with few light marks. Label with foxing and minor tears. Lining with minor wear. Powder flask retaining much original finish with large, shallow dent to one side. Mold with light pitting overall.
