Dioptase
Tsumeb, Namibia
From the important and now defunct mining locality of Tsumeb comes this rare yet classic example of dioptase. A larger than typical cabinet-sized specimen, it has a veritable carpet of glistening green crystals dancing across the surface, a testament to their high luster. Such larger specimens are increasingly difficult to come by. A vug with small crystals is also apparent on the reverse side of the specimen. Measuring 5 ½ x 3 ½ x 3 ½ in
