Rare Tyrannosaurid Skull - Tyrant Lizard from the Age of Dinosaurs
Alioramus remotus
Late Cretaceous
Nemegt Formation, Gobi Desert, Central Asia

Alioramus is a theropod dinosaur belonging to the family Tyrannosauridae (meaning tyrant lizard), along with the famous Tyrannosaurus rex and Tyrannosaurus bataar. Very little is known about this rare tyrannosaurid as only three or four skulls have been discovered. Alioramus is smaller and more slender than its cousins, and has a higher tooth count. In fact, the tooth count is higher than any other Tyrannosaurid species. It is also unusual in that it possesses a series of bumps on the top of the snout. Alioramus was most likely a very swift hunter and was probably faster and more agile than its contemporary, Tyrannosaurus bataar. It is thought to have preyed on the faster, medium-sized dinosaurs such as Gallimimus.
The present skull specimen is one of the largest known, from an individual estimated at over 20 feet in length. It impressively displays the 76 serrated, knife-like teeth of the species. Measures 32in
