Packard was at the peak of its prestige in 1937 and the automaker enjoyed record-breaking sales that year. Among the 109,518 Packards produced in 1937, 1,300 were V-12 models—the best showing ever for these largest and most expensive Packards.

Built on Packard's longest chassis for 1937, the 144-inch wheelbase V-12 Convertible Sedan offered here originally carried the highest price tag of any production Packard model offered in 1937. The svelte lines of this model's Dietrich-designed and built body ideally suited the beautiful swept fender lines and impressive prow-like grille of the massive 1937 Packard V-12.

Only 41 twelve-cylinder Packard convertible sedans were built in 1937; the car offered here bearing body number eight. It is believed about half of these large 4-door convertibles were equipped with a limousine-style retractable division window, as seen in this car.

An in-house restorer in the service of a well-known southern California collection performed the car's restoration in the mid-1990s. The vendor recently re-acquired the beautiful V-12 Packard from a customer, who had purchased it from him in 2004.

This magnificent Convertible Sedan remains in exceptional condition. Its equipage includes sidemounted spares with metal covers and mirrors, a trunk rack, cormorant radiator ornament, deluxe steering wheel and radio. The 56,975 miles showing are believed actual and the original Dietrich Inc. body number tag is yet attached to the floor, under the front compartment carpeting.

By all reports always a well cared for and excellent car, this Full Classic V-12 Packard is said by the vendor to “drive like new.“

The Packard V-12 Convertible Sedan is presented with a Certificate of Title.
