1971 Jaguar XKE Series III 2+2 Coupe
Chassis no. 1S71801BW
In the words of Enzo Ferrari, the Jaguar XKE is quite simply “the most beautiful car ever made”.

Introduced in 1961, it wowed the crowds like nothing before. With the revolutionary 3.8 liter straight six-cylinder engine of its predecessor, the XK150, the car was available as a two-seater coupé or convertible. With a top speed in the region of 150mph and a dash to 60mph attainable in just 7seconds, and handling and braking to match, the new Jaguar proved to be a very capable sportscar, both on the track and the road. Engine capacity increased in 1964 up to 4.2 liters, which carried through the Series II cars up to 1971. A 2+2 coupé was also added to the model range.

In the latter part of 1971, the Series III car was released. Now, with the new 5.3 liter V12 engine, producing 285bhp and 295lbft of torque, the car was available as a 2+2 coupe or roadster, and was steeped in luxurious options, such as an automatic transmission, air-conditioning and power steering.

The car offered here, a first year production 1971 coupé, showing 93,106 miles, was built to be the ultimate grand touring sportscar from Jaguar’s range. In the quintessentially elegant color scheme of black paint and black leather interior, the graceful lines of the car are more than apparent. The stylish look is carried through the chrome wire wheels and European bumpers. With an automatic transmission and air conditioning, this car would be perfectly at home cruising through the continent and on the rivieras of Europe the Pacific Coast Highway of America.
