Since 1984, MBK has been the brand name of the French Motobécane company, which was founded in 1923 and by the 1970s had become the world’s largest manufacturer of mopeds and bicycles. The firm is best known for the Mobylette moped, which was launched in 1949 and would be produced in countless versions over the years. MBK currently manufactures a scooters-only range of some 22 different models and has a network of over 1,000 dealers. First introduced in 1998, the Nitro is one of 13 50cc scooters in the current MBK range and qualifies for Insurance Group 1. The following five MBK Nitros were retained by the Jaguar Racing team for use as pit bikes for drivers such as Eddie Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa.
