From the Ballet 'Le Dieu Bleu' performed for the first time by the Diaghilev Ballet at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, 1912, this was one of a group of Temple Assistant costumes, comprising of a cropped jacket, short circular skirt and turban hat, worked in vibrant shades of pinks, purples and yellows, worked with appliqué, embroidery, shell and metal bead decoration, some of the shells have broken with wear and the outfit is missing its original longer underskirt, the turban hat appears to be a later reproduction; together with a exhibition booklet, paperwork and photos.   • This outfit would appear to have been part of an exhibition run by The Costume Institute & The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1978/9, entitled 'Diaghiley, Costumes and Designs of the Ballets Russes' and sold previously though auction, all this information is included in the accompanying paperwork being sold with the outfit.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £2,500 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £2,500 up to and including £300,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £300,000 up to and including £3,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £3,000,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
