U.S. Military Magazine & Record of all the Volunteers together with the Army and Navy
Huddy & Duval, Philadelphia, 1839-1842. Three volumes bound in one, 4to. 75 color lithographed plates, 8 full page black and white plates, 2 plates of music and a fold-out facsimile of Captain John Barry's U.S. Navy commission from George Washington. Black and white lithographed Frontispiece to Vol. I and title pages to all three volumes. Volume I and II with 12 issues each, Volume III with issues from July through December of 1841 and issues for March, April and May of 1842. Bound in gilt-stamped red leather, the cover stamped E.L. Orth. Vols. 1 and 3 illustrate uniforms of various units of the uniformed militia, while Vol. 2 is concerned with the regular army and navy.
Condition: Cover showing wear, loss to top of spine and with back cover and last 40 pages detached. Some foxing and tears, some edge tears and losses to a few of the detached pages.
