A superb Royal Worcester vase and cover by George Owen
Dated 1912.
The campana shaped body supported on three acanthus scroll feet above a circular base pierced with a border of husks and edged with a row of pearls, the central wide band of pierced honeycomb beneath a border of George Owen's unique ornament including linked flowerheads, the cover moulded and pierced with six interlaced horseshoes between further rows of pearls, the pierced finial enclosed within an extraordinary laurel wreath, all of the piercing heightened with tiny gold jewels and with fine gold tracery around the lower body and on top of the foot, a further border of tooled gilding beneath the rim, 24.7cm high, shape number 2519, incised signature G Owen, factory mark in gold with date code and registration number, gilder's number 1 (2)
