Footnotes

  • Henri Delobel was registered as master in Paris sponsored by Jean-Martin De la Fosse, on 14 January 1756. His address is given as the cloister of St Jean en Grève, he died on 6 June 1785 at the same address (Nocq Vol II, page 59). Nocq notes that though the symbol of 'difference' in Delobel's maker's mark is not identified, there are a number of similar boxes bearing this mark and it is reasonable to attribute them to him.
