Footnotes

  • Sold at Sotheby's 15 September 1992, lot 336. Zorka Hodgson had a particular interest in the Goat and Bee jug, on which she read a paper at the Linnean Society on 10 December 1988, see Zorka Hodgson, Sources of inspiration for the Goat & Bee Jug and other Chelsea creations, EEC trans, vol 14, part 1, p 40, figs 21 and 22, illustrating as a possible source the woodblock print by Domenico Campagnols (1500-67) of 'Two Goats at the foot of a tree'.
