1975 Aston Martin Series III V8 Coupe
Chassis no. V8/11390LCA
The Aston Martin name dates back to a hill-climb special Lionel Martin and partner Robert Bamford built in 1913, specifically for Martin to drive in a competition at Aston Hill in England. Aston Martin began to achieve international recognition and prominence in the early 1950s, with the high-performance and luxurious DB series cars built while the company was under the control of industrialist David Brown. In 1964, an Aston Martin DB5 achieved global stardom as the specially equipped vehicle driven by that suave man of adventure, James Bond, in the film Goldfinger and several subsequent films in the series.

Although the 6-cylinder engine that powered the mid-1960s Aston Martins offered sparkling performance, enthusiasts clamored for a V8. Their desires were acknowledged in 1969. The new 5.3L (325 cid) V8 engine was designed by the company¹s engine designer, Tadek Marek, who had been responsible for Aston Martin engines since 1954.

The V8 provided performance that is still impressive today 0-60 mph in about six seconds and a top speed around 160 mph. During 1973, the 6-cylinder Aston Martin was dropped and the V8 became the standard Aston Martin engine and would remain so until the year 2000.

At the same time, the Bosch fuel-injection system used on the V8 since 1969 was dropped and replaced by a quartet of Weber carburetors. The power rating was now 310 hp (231 kW). Aston Martins with the carbureted V8 were designated Series 3 cars and were distinguished by a higher hood scoop, necessary to clear the revised induction system.

The car offered here is a Series 3 Aston Martin V8, one of only 20 reportedly produced in 1975, as the company was at the time transitioning to new ownership. This car is chassis number V8/11390LCA and is equipped with a Torqueflite automatic transmission. It has been owned by members of the same family since 1986 and appears to be a very original vehicle that exhibits excellent panel fit and in every way appears to have been garage-kept from new. The odometer reads 30,486 miles.

Aston Martin has long been an ultra-exclusive car, carefully crafted for the most discerning owners while at the same time offering world-class performance. This well-preserved example provides an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of owning such an automobile. Sold on a Certificate of Title.
