1915 Indian 8-Valve Boardtrack Racer
Engine no. 71G158
During 1910, founding Indian Motocycle partner, Oscar Hedstrom teamed up with Charles Gustafson Sr. and Charles B. Franklin to project Indians supremacy as the winningest racers with this 8-valve project. Debuting after the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd winning sweep of the famous Isle of Mann TT races, the 8-valves appeared on the American tracks in late 1911, and early 1912. They soon proved Indian's supremacy and carried it along as the Fastest Motorcycle in the World! These 8-valve racers set the standard which all the other manufacturers had to abide. It's this 4-valve per cylinder technology that was so advanced for it's time that enabled Indian to leap in the winningest circles. Perhaps the most famous of all racers, and truly the pioneering engineering of even todays modern machines, these ultra-rare examples are the ultimate form of motorcycle racing history.
