Behold what could be considered one of America's rarest racing motorcycles. A 1906 Torpedo Tanked Thor is considered to be the ultimate early-era collectible. Produced by the Aurora Manufacturing Company from 1903 to 1916, Thors enjoyed strong sales and were well known for their endurance. Fledged into the motorcycle business by young partners Oscar Hedstrom and George Hendee, the Aurora facility manufactured the engines for their pioneering Indian Motorcycle Company. Aurora also produced their Thor engines for other licensed motorcycle companies, but the true Thor Company withstood the trials, tribulations, and of course, the races of the times.

Here we see the epitome of the earliest forms of motorcycle racing; Torpedo tank, Monkey-on-a-stick seating position, ultra tall tires, correct stigma of the breeds colors and decal transfers, and the cutting fine edge of the technology of the era.

Thors were produced from 1903 with their pedal-start introduced to the motorcycle world by Indian, and ceased with America's entry into World War 1 in 1916. After the war, the facility only manufactured Home Appliances. Cyclone, Flying Merkel, and others all fell subject to similar fates.

This fine example is the latest work from Yellow Spear Restorations. Just completed in September of this year, this stunning example of America's earliest examples produced for spectacle racing is by far the ultimate piece. This is a very rare opportunity to own a wonderful piece of America's earliest forms of motorcycling exotica.
