Document Signed (John Hancock) as Selectman of Boston, 1 p, 4to, Boston, August 29, 1770, also signed by JOSEPH JACKSON, JOHN PRUDDOCK, SAMUEL PEMBERTON, HENDERSON INCHES, and JONATHAN MASON, authorizing passage of two women and two children, leaf creased horizontally and vertically, toned, some reinforcement to page, lower left corner and lower center margin supplied, tipped at all edges to mount.
In 1765 John Hancock joined the Selectmen of Boston. Here he authorizes a letter of transit issued to Eben Wales for two women and two children traveling from Boston to Halifax. Hancock and the selectmen certify that the women and children are not inhabitants of any Town in this Province, and that the Sum Charged for their Passages is according to Agreement.
