Footnotes

  • This was the 21st Ladies Golf Union Championship and had been heralded as being the 'Coming of Age' Championship. It attracted some 127 entries. In the 36 hole final Miss Muriel Dodd beat Miss Chubb 8 and 6.
'The tournament furnished a great surprise in the triumph of Miss Muriel Dodd, who, though considered some time previously by Mr. John Ball to be the best lady golfer, was practically unknown in the higher ranks of feminine golf...
At the conclusion Mr. Eckersley, Captain of the Club presented the medals.
The inaugural Ladies Open had been played at Lytham in 1893.
