The base enclosed by a central pair of flamed recess panel doors below a fitted secretaire drawer and flanked to each side by four graduated drawers, the upper section enclosed by four bar glazed doors below a frieze of flutes divided by roundels below a central arched pediment, centred by an oval paterae, raised on a deep crossbanded plinth, 190cm wide, 49cm maximum depth, 250cm high.

    'This bookcase was given by His Majesty George III to Peter Still of 5 New Square, Lincolns Inn, who was His Majesty's Solicitor. The bookcase remained at 5, New Square for upwards of one hundred years and was the property successively of Peter Still, Robert Still, Stafford Francis Still and Ernest Robert Still. The bookcase was removed from New Square to Windfield, Leatherhead in the year 1900 by Ernest Robert Still.'

    The law firm of Trower, Still and Keeling is now part of Trowers and Hamlins and was at New Square until about five years ago.
