1840 1d. Plate II: AL, unused, cut into at lower-right, close to large margins, other sides, fine

1840 1d. Plate II: ED, small tear at left, fine neat 1844 type cancellation. Rare. RPS certificate (1986).

1840 1d. Plate II: PH, used on from Handsworth to London and tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation and Handsworth PyP in blue, filing fold but “HANDSWORTH” in blue on reverse.

1840 1d. Plate II: SL, good to large margins, red Maltese Cross cancellation, fine.

1840 1d. Plate III: BB, unused, large margins, fine appearance. RPS certificate (1985) stating “has been cleaned, slightly rubbed”.

1840 1d. Plate IV: BA, part o.g., good even margins, a trifle toned but fine.

1840 1d. Plate IV: BI used September 1840 on printed "Insolvent Debtor Relief" form to Kendal, large even margins but with two pin holes, neat red M.C and illegible town handstamp alongside.

1840 1d. Plate IV HC-HF horizontal strip of four HC-HF, HC just touched at foot otherwise good to large margins, red Maltese Cross cancellations on E. from Chippenham to Devizes, addressed to Henry Fox Talbot, who invented the photographic negative. Buyers' Premium and Charges

For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
