Footnotes

  • The vendors acquired this imposing Hooper-bodied 25/30hp limousine in April 1992 while they were living in the USA. Already restored (at date unknown) the car was used extensively in the United States, visiting regional meets, touring the Mid-West and attending R-ROC National events, taking regional concours awards, firsts in Touring Class and other special awards at R-ROC nationals.
The car was imported into the UK late in 1997, since when it has been used mostly for regional and local events and tours plus the occasional wedding duty for friends and family - ladies seem to like the colour and vast rear compartment! Forming part of a private museum collection of other early and classic Rolls-Royce cars and British motorcycles ever since, it has been maintained by its enthusiast owner and driven regularly on a private estate.
Work carried out during the current ownership has included replacing the water pump and tyres; re-plating some of the brightwork; overhauling the shock absorbers and centralised lubrication system; powder coating the wheel discs; restoring some of the instruments; cosmetically detailing the engine bay; rewiring the ignition system; replacing the valve gear and overhauling the cylinder head; replacing worn out Rexene roof material with similar Everflex; and fitting turn signals. Otherwise, the car has not needed any major work in the last 15 years.
Described as a nice solid and reliable vehicle, even if a bit old fashioned in overall appearance, the car is reported to start and run well and is said to have been very reliable for long distance driving; indeed, the vendors state that they would be happy to take it anywhere. Out of all the early cars they have owned, this one is regarded as the nicest to drive, and it can still turn a few heads in the process. Mechanically it is in excellent condition, while the earlier restoration has held up exceedingly well.
Finished in black over blue with black leather upholstery to the front compartment and grey cloth to the rear, ‘EUW 2’ retains its original registration mark and comes complete with full tool kit and tailored dust cover. It is currently taxed and MoT’d. Also included with the car is a comprehensive history file dating back to 1992 including invoices and bills, details of work carried out and records of usage; some earlier history with correspondence and photographs; import documentation; (copy) old-style logbook; reproduction handbook; awards received; publications in which it has featured; old photographs; build sheets; R-ROC manual; tax discs, SORNs, MoTs and Swansea V5.
