A 19th century Belgian gold snuff box,
troisième titre, the rim with the maker's mark of Josse Allard, also with a script W N mark,
the cover engraved with a depiction of the Château Royal de Laeken from the park with the lake to the foreground, within an engraved scroll border, the concave sides and base intensely engraved with roses and foliate scrolls, length 9cm, weight 93.8gms.

  • The Chateau Royal de Laeken was first built between 1782-1784 after the plans of the French architect Charles de Wailly as a summer residence for the Governors of the Habsburg Netherlands, Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria and her husband Albert of Saxe-Teschen. It was partly destroyed by fire in 1890 and rebuilt by Alphonse Balat. The French architect Charles Girault gave it its present outline in 1902. It has been the royal residence since the accession to the throne of King Leopold I in 1831.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:

Buyer's Premium Rates
27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
