Footnotes

  • Rare work by the Deputy Commissioner in Kangra. The expedition, as detailed in the photographs, commenced in Dharmsala and travelled through Spiti (with its largely Tibetan population) on a neglected road used by traders importing shawl-wool from Tibet. Egerton felt this route had great promise as an alternative way to Yarkand without going through Ladakh.
